Are you eligible?
If your parent was born in Ireland or Northern Ireland, you are eligible to apply for the Irish passport. ✔.The passport office will require your Irish parent’s certificates as evidence.
If your grandparent was born in Ireland or Northern Ireland, you are eligible to apply for Irish citizenship by descent before applying for the Irish passport ✔. The FBR office will require a range of original birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates for a number of generations.
If your great grandparent was born in Ireland or Northern Ireland, it is not usually possible for an individual to claim Irish citizenship by descent via an Irish-born great grandparent. The exception would be if your parent claimed Irish citizenship before you were born.
